Directing 6h40 AM (2024) was about building bridges between two universes that naturally intersect and, in a way, renounce each other: funk, especially from São Paulo, and electronic music. Every cinematic choice stemmed from this dialogue, resulting in a parallel universe that explores the sensations and aesthetic details of these worlds. We used Mini DV/VHS images to connect the real and the imaginary, following a group of friends who meet at the subway and head to the DZ7 baile, experiencing it until dawn. Both universes are deeply shaped by the presence of the body in the space — it’s the body that makes the baile or the rave exist. It was essential, then, to highlight how this unconscious 'non-place' we created transforms as it is filled with people, guiding us from the individual experience to the collective body that defines these movements. We wanted to stretch time, capturing those micro-experiences that converge into something greater, and reframe the baile as a space for sensory and collective connection – immersive and transformative.
This music video was born from the convergence of visions and perspectives, a project created by many hands. Milena Nascimento, from MileLab, and MLK Brutal brought essential creative collaboration, while Fabio Politi led the cinematography; Eduardo Nunes handled the Mini DV footage, and Vitor Duarte contributed with still photography, which we used as the basis for creating some takes with Artificial Intelligence. Each person added a new layer to the narrative, giving the project more strength and depth.
