Diretoria (2021) is a musicvideo for the artists Tasha & Tracie, about the intersection between the culture of carnival and the structuring of samba schools and the aesthetic and cultural universe of the “quebrada” — so present in their lives. It is about imagining a reality derived from the mixture of aesthetic codes and inherent characters of these places, which present themselves here as metamorphosed, morphed figures. A motorcycle is not just a motorcycle, but a carnival float, for example. Inspired by the logic of the music itself, which samples the carnival drums and incorporates it as a layer of instrumentalization, we extract signs, actions, processes from both cultures and sample them, thus creating new visual possibilities. The video was released at the very end of 2021, a few days before Christmas, and was filmed in 16mm format, entirely with Kodak.
